Skills maintenance – only a couple more opportunities!
Our primary role is to protect the public visiting our beach and making rescues where needed. In order to do this, we need to ensure our lifesavers have maintained all the skills covered to keep the beach safe. Bronze Medallion and ARTC Skills Maintenance will contain both online and practical requirements this season. You MUST complete both online and practical portions to be sign off as proficient! The online portion needs to be complete before attending the practical session or we will not be able to process your proficiency. The online portion can be accessed through your Members Area account, in the eLearning section. If you cannot find it in the 'My Training' section please look for the Skills Maintenance 2022/23 (SRC or BM) in the training library and enrol. Remaining practical dates are as follows: You will need to enrol online for the date you wish to attend. This is done through e-Learning. Here is a guide on how to do it! Meet in the Heritage room for the following Skills Maintenance: SM3 - Saturday 10 December SRC - 8.30am BM - 9.30am SM4 - Sunday 18 December SRC - 10am BM - 11am Meet in the Lifesaving Shed for following Skills Maintenance: IRB Drivers & Crew Saturday 18 December 7am You must be proficient in order to patrol. Any questions to our Lifesaving team at [email protected] Checking your patrol hours With the season well underway, it’s a good time to remind you to please check your patrol hours now and then. You can check them in the Members Portal. It’s really hard for us at the end of the season to re-open patrol logs to have hours checked and fixed. It’s inevitable that your hours may not be logged properly, as the patrol ops app seems to be quite buggy this season. If you make a habit of checking your hours now and then we can fix them up quickly for you. If you do find an error, please get in touch with Ash at [email protected] Check your roster and finding subs Leaving it to the last minute to find a sub for your patrol is highly unadvisable, as success is quite low. Please do not wait for the patrol reminder text to look for a sub. You can find your roster online here, note your dates and plan ahead. Make sure you’re a part of the Club’s subs Facebook group or use the members portal to request a sub. Use the how to find a sub guide. IRB Drivers – please use the Club’s IRB drivers WhatsApp group for driver subs PCs – please use the Club’s PC WhatsApp group to find a sub New IRB Drivers and Crew A massive congrats to our newest IRB drivers and crew who went through their assessment over the last two weekend. The IRB is a vital lifesaving resource on our beach and having skilled operators is key to our lifesaving service. I’d also like to thank all the trainers who helped get them through, your help is very much appreciated. Lifesaving gear maintenance A quick reminder how important it is to report any broken gear. There is no way for us to replace or repair equipment if we don’t know it’s broken or not working as it should. Please do let us know as a soon as possible so we can move faulty gear out of service. You can report issues to Nicole at 0413025512 or [email protected], or to Darren at 0410 622 009 or [email protected] Key lifesaving contacts Now that the season is well underway a quick reminder of who to contact within the lifesaving team with any queries or concerns: Can’t make patrol? Contact your Patrol Captain (their phone number is on the patrol teams list) Got an education question? Contact Codie on [email protected] Patrol log not right or not submitted. Contact Ash at [email protected] IRB issues? Contact Nicole at [email protected] Memberships issues?
