It is a great honour to be receiving the 2018 Sydney Champion Surf Life Saving Club Award with so many iconic Clubs within Sydney.
South Maroubra SLSC has a proud history of community, participation and diversity. We encourage innovation and value the contribution of ‘everyone’ in our club from the most mature to our youth. Providing a volunteer lifesaving service on one of Sydney’s most popular beaches is a constant but rewarding challenge for our membership as is developing our youth whilst helping them and their families better understand the features and risks of surf. Our club has been operating now for nearly 60 years and maintains a special place within our community. Our thanks are extended to the entire South Maroubra family, friends and supporters over our existence, in particular Maroubra Seals Club, Randwick City Council and The Juniors Club along with Michael Daley MP and Matthew Thistlethwaite MP who have provided ongoing and unconditional support . We hope to continue to build our wonderful club, our sponsorship base and welcome everyone and anyone who would like to contribute towards a healthy and vibrant voluntary community service.

The club worked hard for the award. They did not get it by just functioning the ordinary way, but they chose to go beyond the mile and provide the best service possible they could ever give. That's the reason why I believe they really deserve 2018 Sydney Champion Surf Life Saving Club Award! Congratulations to everyone who had been part of this success. Down to the staff up to the upper management, you guys deserve the award that's why you should celebrate for getting it!
