OUR LIFESAVERS |
WHAT WE DO |
SERIOUS BUT FUN! |
Our lifesavers patrol Maroubra Beach from September through to April on every weekend and public holidays. Our patrol teams are made up of members ranging from 13+ who have been trained in the skills, techniques and procedures for either the Surf Rescue Certificate or Bronze Medallion award. Many members have further gained specialised lifesaving awards, which has increased their skills and knowledge. We have an extensive range of lifesaving equipment provided by our very generous sponsors, which is utilised in the role we play during the summer season on our beach – protecting the beach users.

Our primary role is to protect the public visiting our beach, and making rescues where needed. In order to do this we roster our qualified volunteers into patrol teams ensuring we have all the skills covered to keep the beach safe. Each team will do about 9 patrols each season. Each team has a designated Patrol Captain and Vice Captain who are responsible for the management of the team while on duty.
You'll recognise our patrol team members are by the iconic DHL sponsored uniform of red/yellow quartered cap, yellow long sleeve t-shirt and red shorts. Patrol roster... |
Lifesaving is serious business but it's also a great deal of fun. You get to spend your days on one of Australia's most beautiful beaches, save lives and enjoy the surf. By being a lifesaver you can up-skill with courses in Advanced Resuscitation, Spinal Injury Management, Inflatable Rescue Boats and more!
Membership of surf lifesaving is invaluable and South Maroubra encourages anyone to take the plunge and enquire about joining to see what opportunities surf lifesaving can offer and the rewards your membership will give you as a surf lifesaver. Up-skill now... |
